For most of my work a Spectrum XT works fine, Metageek’s DBX’s inside Ekahau ESS for light work. Sure miss a lightweight, simple Cognio solution. Would love to have constellation and EVM analysis for real-time work. Thinking about the Tektronix RSA306 for that purpose alone. But don’t want to be the first. Does the SoundHound or Spectran alternatives offer Constellation analysis in real-time? Anyone bit the bullet and spent the big $$ yet?[4:04]
Anyone want to go in “halfsies” on the Textronix?Rick Murphy

For full band I’ve always used Anritsu. but I don’t think they have anything that competes with these prices for new equipment. Anritus does have a sale for demo equipment going on now. Here is the link in case that’s of interest to you: http://www.goanritsu.com/demo?utm_source=ASR&utm_medium=EM&utm_campaign=ASR_ASR_16APR_AprilDemo_EM_Demo_MULTI-P_DEMO_OT-03112&cmp_id=Q6UJ9A086ATL&elqTrackId=80B5FC1E75C55250E792A4AD25CC8B0D&elq=0896255b3fe3408289649a014583ada7&elqaid=1920&elqat=1&elqCampaignId=1754[7:36]

which tektronics model are we talking about? I’ve played with the RSA306 and was very impressed, had some fun analyzing LTE and CDMA/GSM bands with it as well. I’d like to get my hands on a RSA500, anyone have any experience with one?Rick Murphy

I am looking for a wide spectrum[1:59]
not just wifiRick Murphy

Cognio :+1:
Troy, are you looking for Wi-Fi Only SpecAn or wide spectrum? For Wi-Fi only (in order of cost/features) AirMagnet Spectrum XT, MetaGeek WiSpy DBx, and Nuts for Nets has one called RF Explorer 6G Combo that looks interesting but I haven’t personally tried it. Anyone have experience with that one? For wide spectrum it gets a little deeper.Rick Murphy

it’ll never replace your Cognio 😉Rick Murphy

I’m thinking of getting a single unit for the ‘heavy lifting’ analysis, but it’s clearly not WiFi troubleshooting focused – its far more about protocol/radio developmentRick Murphy

I didn’t have a whole ton of time with it, so it was a ‘guided remote’ tour of the softwareRick Murphy
Forum Adminkeithrparsons [10:10 AM]
@sclements: did you test all the various software options, or just the base Textronix unit? I’m thinking of getting one just for the constellation features. It would be a great way to test EVM issues LIVE. Your thoughts?Rick Murphy
Forum Adminsclements [10:05 AM]
that Tektronix unit was pretty cool as far as spec ans go. Not very portable, but symbol decoding and constellation views live for sub $5k is outstanding. -
