Will the network card exclude the 2,4GHz and use the less crowded 5GHz?

Since WiFi is contention based, a crowded (congested) network will always affect performance, regardless of band (2.4/5 GHz) or mode. (802.11a,b,g,n,ac)
Some clients can “prefer” a certain band over another but this is proprietary.
A client network card will only avoid the 2.4GHz if it is setup to do so. There are settings in Windows to do so, provided they are supported by the card. You need to go to the card properties, configure, advanced tab, wireless mode. Select appropriate value.
